Police have arrested 20 people in connection to the stabbing of an 18 year old in the capital Male late Monday in what appears to be a gang related attack.
The attack occurred near the Islamic University late Monday leaving the victim in critical condition.
The unidentified victim had undergone emergency surgery in the privately run ADK hospital but remains in critical condition, according to hospital officials.
Hours after the attack, police had arrested eight suspects in connection to the stabbing, but later confirmed that the number of suspects taken into custody had risen to 20 after further investigation.
After months of relative calm, the latest stabbing came after an assault last week.
