A workshop began on Monday aimed at the implementation of the agreement on the proper management of hazardous waste.
Around 40 people from the Maldives National Defence Force and the Customs Agency will be attending the two day workshop.
At the inauguration ceremony starting the meeting, state environment minister Abdul Majeed said the national policy on the proper management of hazardous waste will be implemented very soon.
He also said that a National Chemical Profile was compiled and released last year.
Discussions will be held at this workshop regarding the transfer of hazardous waste across countries.
