Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been awarded the project to establish water and sewerage networks in the second phase of the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.
Speaking after awarding the project, Hulhumale Development Corporation (HDC) managing director Mohamed Simon said the unlike the first phase, several projects would be implemented simultaneously in the second phase.
MWSC managing director Fazul Rasheed said the company had already commenced efforts to lay road crossing pipes which is also part of the USD25 million project. The company plans to complete the project by September next year, he added.
The government had reclaimed 240 hectares of land under Hulhumale’s second phase development.
HDC had recently awarded the project to design the infrastructure and manage the youth city to Turkish engineering consulting and contracting company (TUMAS).
TUMAS would design the channels, connecting bridges, harbour and tourism island being developed in the second phase.
