Local telecommunications giant Dhiraagu has successfully fended off major distribution denial-of-service attacks in the past few days that had disrupted broadband internet and mobile data services.
As an apology for customers over the inconvenience, Dhiraagu is set to offer a discount on this month's bill.
Dhiraagu Manager Marketing Communications and PR Mohamed Mirshan Hassan said the company had successfully taken several steps to combat the attacks.
"We worked with a US company that is globally renowned to handle this type of attacks," Mirshan said.
Mirshan said Dhiraagu would offer a discount for customers as many had faced major service disruptions due to the relentless attacks.
"Broadband customers were the worst hit. So we would be giving a considerable discount for especially our broadband customers," he added.
