Maldives' main bank on Tuesday, launched a major CSR initiative dubbed 'Aharenge Bank' (My Bank) which entails several programs in a multitude of sectors throughout the archipelago.
The campaign was launched at a ceremony held in the Champa Central Hotel, by the Bank of Maldives (BML) Chairman Fareeha Shareef and CEO Andrew John Healy.
The bank also stated that special daily activities would be arranged for the following month, to inform the public about the services provided by the bank beneficial to the community as part of the program.
The bank also anounced that the best proposal for a community program would receive MVR200,000.
Healy said with over 270,000 customers, the bank was connected with the lives of all Maldivian families.
He also said that the current project started by the bank showcased the targets of the bank and the benefits to Maldivian society because of such targets. He assured that BML would remain as a bank for Maldivians, saying that the project proves that BML remains tirelessly in the service of the Maldivian public.
"We want you to see this bank as your own bank. Even if it is to provide education for your children, if you want to renovate your home or if you want to start a business, this bank will stand behind you," Andrew said.
Andrew also noted that BML had invested MVR150 million annually for the past two years in projects aiding the community. Announcing that the amount would be doubled this year, Andrew stated that 10 CSR projects would be carried out this year ranging from charity, education and sports along with environment protection.
