The true meaning of serving the people is to deliver on the needs of the people, president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said Monday.
Speaking at the the event commemorating the conclusion of land reclamation in Kaaf Atoll Thulusdhoo Island, president Yameen said any development Maldives witnesses should be accepted as one for each and every individual and that all Maldivians should partake in such achievements.
The President highlighted that when issues related to the needs of women are resolved and the basic requirements of the youth are fulfilled, two key pledges of his government would be properly addressed.
He also noted that not all development projects were aimed at a specific region; rather some are being carried out to increase drive and intellectual prowess.
Additionally, the President highlighted the importance of collective personal contributions to the society in contributing and augmenting development projects that are underway.
The President also stated that the government gives great importance to youth development; reason being youth are the future of the nation adding that investing in youth is an investment for the future of Maldives – providing shelter, protecting their rights and providing educational opportunities are all investments that are being made for the better future of the nation.
Government had invested USD10 million to reclaim 33 hectares of land in Thulusdhoo island.
