First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim on Friday kick-started a tour of Gaaf Alif Atoll.
Under a special campaign started by the First Lady to become more connected to the lives of ordinary citizens, the first lady visited Maamendhoo and Nilandhoo on Friday, receiving a warm welcome from the residents. She is set to visit Kolamaafushi and Villingili on Saturday.
An official reported that the First Lady will be visiting the disabled and the elderly on this trip, and that she will find out ways through which to improve the lives of the residents.
"The Madam pays a priority to connecting with the people. The purpose of her trip is to visit the residents, and listen to their concerns," the official said.
The First Lady had visited the islands of N. Atoll this past month, speaking to the residents. The campaign office of the First Lady revealed that such trips will be organised in the future, with some ministers accompanying the First Lady.
