Maldives to promote investment opportunities in Germany

The Maldives government is looking to promote the multitude of investment opportunities in Germany, the archipelago's Ambassador to Germany, Jameela Ali has said.

During an interview with Avas at the Maldivian embassy in Germany, Jameela assured that she would look to boost foreign investments during her tenure.

"We will prioritize informing that the legal framework in Maldives protects foreign investments," Jameela said.

She also noted that efforts were ongoing to promote Maldivian tourism, to attract more tourists from Germany, as well as to ensure an easier visa process for Maldivians who visit Germany.

"When I was posted here, the German visa issue was flagged. Foreign ministry has been working to resolve the issues surrounding the visa process. However, there is still a small delay, so it has not be completely resolved," the Ambassador said.

Germany remains one of the countries with most tourists to the Maldives while many Maldivians visit the European nation primarily for business.
