Journalists from German speaking countries arrive to promote Maldives

Five journalists from German speaking countries have arrived in the Maldives on a familiarization trip conducted by Maldives Marketing & PR corporation (MMPRC).

The journalists belonging to Austria, Switzerland and Germany, represent the traditional media channels popular in their respective countries, said MMPRC.

The theme of the trip is to “Discover a Brand-New Luxury Experience”. The team will be staying at luxury properties that opened recently such as, You & Me by Cocoon Maldives, Residence Maldives Dhigurah & Pullman Maamutaa.

The team will experience exciting excursions such as dolphin cruises and will indulge in different cuisines and experience the unique spa treatments in these resorts, said MMPRC.

This familiarization trip is part of the many marketing activities initiated by MMPRC this year to promote Maldives as an attractive tourist destination.

Germany currently ranks 3rd in terms of arrivals to Maldives. A total of 151,414 arrivals have been recorded from Germany, Austria and Switzerland till October 2019. This is an increase from the same period of 2018 which recorded a total of 135,655 arrivals from these three countries.

Maldives have participated in numerous German fairs to advertise and advance Maldivian tourism. One such fair is the prestigious ITB fair in Berlin. FESPO in Zurich and the boot trade fair in Dusseldorf.
