Maldivian man arrested for violating immigration laws in Sri Lanka has escaped The Mirihana Detention Centre.
Daily Mirror News reports that the man had fled accompanied by one Turk and two Nigerians, all of whom were arrested for breaking immigration laws.
Police are now investigating the escape of the detainees.
The Mirihana Detention Centre is controlled by the Department of Immigration and Emigration and is used for detaining foreigners arrested in the country.
Over 10,000 Maldivians reside in Sri Lanka for different purposes and many more travel frequently.
