Maldives to reopen schools after swine flu epidemic

Education ministry has announced that schools will reopen next Sunday after the swine flu epidemic.

Schools will resume this Sunday after midterm break as the number of H1N1 patients have receded.

Statistics by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal a steady decrease with only 272 patients arriving at the clinic on Tuesday, while 316 and 374 recorded on Monday and Sunday respectively.

ADK's flu clinic treated only 108 patients, while none needed to be admitted. Over 200 patients had flocked to the clinic daily after the initial outbreak of of the flu.

Statistics revealed 169 people were tested positive for the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as the swine flu, in the Maldives. The virus had claimed three lives, two locals and one expatriate while 32 patients are admitted and being treated for the virus.
