Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) on Sunday signed a contract with housing ministry on a project for the development of jetties in six different islands.
The contract was signed by housing minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu and MRDC's managing director Mohamed Nimal at the ministry.
The project worth MVR14.3 million would develop jetties in Baa Atoll Fehendhoo and Fulhadhoo, Raa Atoll Rasgetheemu, Vaavu Atoll Fulidhoo and Rakeedhoo and Meemu Atoll Raiymandhoo by next October.
During the signing ceremony, Minister had stated that these islands are those which do not have a proper landing stage for boats to dock. He added that there will be a jetty development project for Alif Dhaal Atoll Mandhoo though it has not been assigned yet.
