Swine flu claims another life

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Monday revealed that another person who had tested positive for swine flu has died. This is the sixth victim to die of swine flu.

State run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) stated that the deceased was an 80-year man who was transferred to the hospital from Raa Atoll Ungoofaaru island. He died on Thursday while waiting for the results of the H1N1 test which later came back positive, hospital said.

The man was being treated for a fracture.

Two more people, including a pregnant women died of swine flu taking the fatality count to five since the outbreak two weeks ago.

Health authorities have said the patient count at the various flu clinics set up to handle the outbreak had been steadily declining.
