WOB honours 16 with top women awards

Women on Board (WOB) on Monday held its 2016 awarding ceremony at Hotel Jen. First Lady, Fathimath Ibrahim was the guest of honour at the ceremony.

At the ceremony, First Lady was presented with an award of recognition by WOB for her support and motivation to women.

WOB Annual Awards provide a prestigious platform to honour outstanding and successful
professionals together with business operations that promote gender diversity and inspire Maldivian women to the next level where ever they are, regardless of their position or economic standing.

Sixteen women, including a foreigner, received WOB awards at Monday's ceremony.

The awarding categories included best chairperson of a private sector, best manager and best young professional. Out of the 16 winners in total, one was chosen for best chairperson, eight for best manager and seven for best young professional.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice president of WOB, Dr Aishath Muneeza said that women should never underestimate their capabilities and must do all work with pride and toughness of spirit.

Women on Board was founded in 2015 and have held annual awarding ceremonies since.
