Maldives bans drugs from India's Leben Laboratories

Maldives authorities on Wednesday banned the import of drugs from India's pharmaceutical company, Leben Laboratories over continued question marks surrounding quality.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has also decided to order a recall of drugs from the Mumbai based company.

MFDA in a statement said local health care providers have found various issues with the drugs produced by Leben for the past 18 months.

The statement said the import and use of drugs from the company has been prohibited with immediate effect.
