Renowned local blogger and social media activist Yameen Rasheed was found stabbed to death in the stairwell of a house in the capital Male in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson said the 29 year old was found with severe stab injuries around 3am Sunday and was rushed to state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
According to a family member, the victim renowned for his strong views on politics and religious extremism through 'The Daily Panic' handle was stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest.
Police confirmed that the attack on Yameen, a native of the southernmost Atoll Addu's Feydhoo was premeditated, though the motive remains unclear
