Cargo vessel sinks, leaves two dead

A cargo vessel en-route to Raa Atoll Aarah sunk in the wee hours of Thursday, leaving two crew members dead.

Coastguard spokesperson revealed that the boat named 'Princess' was carrying 2,000 bags of cement when it sank west of Kaafu Atoll Eriadhoo resort around 4:30am adding that the deceased were both expats from India.

Coastguard stated that there were 11 crew members including two locals and nine expats at the time of the accident.

The accident had occurred because of hull damages caused by rough seas.
