A man was arrested on Wednesday for assaulting his sleeping brother with a sharp object in a house in Maafannu ward in the capital Male City.
Police spokesperson revealed that they had arrested the 31 year old brother in connection to the case and added that he has been remanded for seven days.
The man was attacked on Saturday night and taken to state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) by the police.
The victim had reportedly called for help during the attack and the assailant had fled the scene.
Details remain sketchy as the hospital and police have not disclosed further details of the attack or the state of the victim.
