Education ministry, on Wednesday, awarded student loans to 438 students. The awarding ceremony was held at Ghiyassudin International School and the loans were awarded by Education Minister, Dr Aishath Shiham.
Education ministry had opened over 900 student loans, for which 542 students applied.
This was the 9th opening for student loans and 438 were awarded the student loan correspondence.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said that this was the first time loans were awarded for other universities in Asia apart from SAARC countries, noting that higher studies in China and Malaysia are now covered by the student loan.
Minister stressed on the importance of higher education, stating that it plays an important role in establishing a great society as the society needs more productive and innovative individuals.
Student loans, for the 10th time, are expected to be convened under the scheme in the near future.
