Missing landing craft found, all aboard safe

The landing craft which was missing for four days, was found 130 nautical miles from Laamu Atoll Isdhoo on Saturday. All six passengers on board were found safe.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) spokesperson revealed that the landing craft was found with the help and support of Indian Navy’s aircraft, with an MNDF coastguard rescue team.

MNDF spokesperson also said that the six people on board -- two locals and four expats, were found safe and added that the landing craft was unable to sail further as the ramp-bow had fallen of damage.

An MNDF coastguard rescue team on an Indian ship is currently operating at the site.

The operation to find the missing landing craft was assisted by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) and neighbouring Sri Lankan and Indian Navy.
