Woman threatened, and robbed at her own home, police reveals

A young woman was terrorised, and robbed whilst at her own home on in the capital Male early on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, two masked men had banged loudly on the door of the woman, who resides in a guesthouse in Male, and had threatened to kill her unless she opened the door on her own.

After the woman unlocked the door, one of them held a sharp object to her neck whilst the other proceeded to take her laptop and her phone.

When someone came to her aid after hearing the commotion, he too was robbed and his phone was taken by the masked men.

The police said that the case was filed in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, and that they are currently investigating the incident.

On Tuesday, police has arrested a 31-year-old male taxi driver in the capital who was allegedly threatening his passengers.

Earlier in the week, posts about a dangerous taxi driver in Male, who was threatening his passengers went viral on social media. Several individuals had written about their alleged experience with the man and had warned the public to be wary.

Further, there were also reports on social media of a group of men on the outermost road of Male, near the industrial zone, who were mugging people late at night.
