"Lets Go Maldives" celebrates World Oceans Day

One of the biggest travel agencies operating in the Maldives, “Lets Go Maldives” on June 8 organised a clean up of the artificial beach located in capital Male in their effort to commemorate the world’s ocean day.

According to Mohamed Riyaz, the owner of the travel agency, many key companies had taken part in the clean-up initiative. As such, employees from Conrad Maldives, Rangali Resort, Robinson Club Maldives, and Champa Central, had joined “Lets Go Maldives” employees in cleaning up the artificial beach.

“Taking care of the ocean is imperative for a country like Maldives, which is 99 per cent ocean. Our livelihood depends on maintaining environment, which is why we organised this event. Hopefully, we will make more events like these in the future,” Riyaz said.

The waste collected from the artificial beach has now been sorted and handed over for recycling.
