State owned Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) Managing Director Mohamed Nimal stepped down from his post late Wednesday less than three months after his appointment.
Nimal after handing his resignation explained the decision by saying that he wanted to focus all his time for incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's reelection campaign.
"Next year is the presidential elections. So I really wish to be personally involved in the reelection campaign. That's why I resigned," Nimal said.
Nimal was named the MRDC chief on March 1 while he was serving as the deputy tourism minister. He had been serving as the Fenaka Corporation chief before he was transferred to the tourism ministry amid a reshuffle in September last year.
