Entry fee for foreigners at revamped historical park

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has specified a special entrance fee will be charged from every expatriate prior to entry into the newly renovated and refurbished "Rasrani" Park which stands in the same ground of former "Sultan Park". The minister had not detailed the ticket prices, however.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the new park on Monday night, Dr. Muizzu highlighted the park will be open without any ticket charges for the locals. Though the inauguration ceremony has taken place, the housing minister said the park will be open for the public on coming Friday, as some props and equipment used for the opening has to be removed.

Friday's grand opening for the public will commence through a special "Children's Eve" according to Housing Minister.

"Rasrani Park" has been developed under the edutainment and heritage concept - targeted at the young minds, who are coming of age through interactive social experimentation and learning. The park was renovated to bring out a lushness using more than 18,000 plants while a 90,000 square feet area was covered with grass patching.

One of the prime highlights of the park include the LED-induced swings, which has been a trademark at the Boston National Park of America, making this inclusion the second such park with LED-induced swings in the world.

Apart from alternatively crafted ponds with Koi fishes giving beauty and sense of nature, the park boasts a glass tree-house built to cater multiple purposes. Educational and recreational classes can be conducted in this venue while corporate meetings can be scheduled and hosted as well.

The ground floor of the tree-house has been allocated to National Center for the Arts (NCA) - where art exhibitions and other related activities will be conducted.

The newly opened, lavish looking "Rasrani Park" is zero grounds for smoking and usage of energy drinks while a 24 hours surveillance will be conducted by Maldives Police Service officials. The park will be opened from 06:00hrs till 00:00hrs everyday except Friday, while Friday's opening hours run from morning 06:00hrs till 11:00hrs and after a brief closing-time, re-opens at 14:00hrs until 00:00hrs.
