Guesthouse conference commences

"Maldives Guesthouse Conference" commences with more than 170 guesthouses and 250 travel agents operating in Maldives.

Hosted by Maldives Getaways, the guesthouse conference kicked off at Paradise Island Resort on Saturday.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the conference, UNDP's Resident Coordinator Soko Noda stressed on the financial benefits and the increase of public welfare due to guesthouse industry booming in Maldives. She highlighted the industry has a direct revenue contribution to specific islands and helps in boosting the island's economy and infrastructure which thus contributes to the nation wholly.

Ms Noda also noted that the establishment of guesthouse industry in Maldives has been a positive thrust in going environmentally friendly for several islands and the public.

Chief Executive Officer of Dhiraagu Ismail Rasheed who spoke at the inaugural ceremony as the event's main sponsoring company representative, revealing the company has introduced special internet packages aimed at guesthouse ventures operating across the country.

The conference has also paved way for the free marketing at international platforms for the participants. The Guesthouse Conference participants are granted free marketing offers at 10 of the biggest travel fairs around the globe including the ITB Fair at Berlin, WTM, India's OTM along with Arabian Travel Mart.

Under the aim of increasing the current visitor count by 500,000 more in 2020 the conference is slated to commence as a travel fair in 2018.
