Australian news show makes documentary on Maldives model's death

Top Australian news show '60 minutes' is making a documentary on the death of Raudha Athif, a Maldivian student and model who was found dead at a medical college dormitory in Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh media, a team from the popular news show had visited Rajshahi Islami Bank Medical College girl’s hostel, filmed the room where Raudha used to live and parts of the campus.

They also spoke to the college staff and Raudha’s father Mohammad Athif.

The show's producer Laura Sparkes told the Dhaka Tribune that Raudha was an internationally known model and the world of entertainment was anxious to know the updates about the investigation into her death.

Raudha was found dead at her dormitory on March 29. Despite Bangladesh police initially ruling her death as suicide, her family had continued to insist that they have facts to support their claim that Raudha was murdered.

The continued claims of foul play had sparked intense speculation over her death.

However, local authorities however remain unconvinced saying that the circumstantial evidence at the scene also suggested that it was a case of suicide.

Two years ago, while experimenting with her pictures on social media she became a sensation in the country as the ‘Maldivian Girl With Aqua Blue Eyes’.
The picture landed her on the cover of Vogue along with five other women from South Asia.

Titled ‘Celebrating Unity In Diversity’ on their ninth anniversary issue, Vouge tried to capture the spirit of bold and beautiful women who are not only embracing their individuality but also inspiring others to do so, and Raudha Athif was one of them.
