Recent talks by the opposition alleging the parliament will see its speaker chamber elevating to 10 feet has been rebuffed by parliament's deputy speaker and Hulhu-Henveiru constituency lawmaker "Reeko" Moosa Manik.
Opposition had sparked rumors of possible elevation to the speaker and cabinet members chamber in an attempt to counter the constant intervention of opposition.
Manik gave a strong retort on Wednesday night when he, at the pro-government PPM's camp "Rumaalu 2", stated that some structural changes to the parliament premises is underway however denied the rumors regarding speaker's chamber and seat.
His rhetoric during Wednesday night's speech was strongly towards the developmental work state government carries out and on the importance of bringing necessary changes to parliament premises or any other element to restrict opposition interruption on prosperity and development of the country.
Manik also recalled his time at Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) - prime opposition contender to PPM - saying the opposition's motive behind their chants and rants of a 'failed government' is to speed up the development projects, which he can assure through his experience.
