MATATO releases destination marketing report

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has released a special report on the importance of destination marketing.

The report was officially released by the association's President Abdulla Giyas at a media exclusive event held in Hulhule' Island Hotel to commemorate World Tourism Day.

Speaking at the event Giyas focused on the importance of destination marketing and stressed strong action in promoting Maldives as a destination is required to restrict the swaying of the current position of Maldives in worldwide tourism industry.

Giyas had been vocal about strengthening destination marketing in several previous forums.

Titled "Importance Of Destination Marketing" extensively discusses the benefits and advantages of promoting Maldives as a tourist destination more globally than now. It also highlighted the revenue generated from the visitors of top 14 countries to Maldives, as well as a detailed visitor count.

In addition to this the report had elaborate explanations on challenges and hindrances faced in the tourism sector of Maldives while a comparison of rival markets like Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Seychelles were detailed as well.
