Refrain political inclusion to counter violence; Opposition

The opposition alliance has urged the Maldives Police Force to refrain from tainting in political propaganda and counter the acts of brutal violence.

A statement released by the opposition on Sunday had criticized the state government and accused the head of state President Yameen Abdul Gayoom of only providing 'colorful dreams' to the youth but in spite had indeed failed in responsibly countering the illegal usage and trade of narcotic drugs.

Opposition had accused the state for surgically removing all opposing figures from power or influence instead of battling the surging violence between youths and gangs, while the alliance requested the policing authority to refrain from indulging in state led political propaganda and actively counter the cogs and crimes of the society.

In addition to this, the anti-government alliance had claimed more than 30 individuals have fallen victim to stabbing and assault incidents, with most of the cases not reaching the final steps in exacting justice for the victims.

Furthermore the opposition criticized government's failure in bringing dangerous criminals in front of justice who are out in the open or at large.

After a brief hiatus during late August and for the most parts of September, violence has once again struck the capital. While one fell victim to a stabbing incident a week back another was hacked to death on Friday night at Hulhumale'. Another victim was seriously injured while he was at G-Six Restaurant on the same night.

Following the resume of attacks, police had solidified their efforts and have made several arrests - who are believed to have close ties or links to the cases or culprits.
