Forms submitted to purchase Vinares apartments through the dedicated online portal have been canceled.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government put up Vinares apartments for purchase on November 5, 2023.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) said it received numerous complaints concerning technical difficulties encountered during the application process. Subsequent investigation revealed that these glitches resulted in many individuals being unable to successfully submit their applications. Therefore, all applications submitted during that period have now been canceled, HDC said.
The HDC further said it has been receiving complaints from many individuals who have paid for apartments in various flat construction projects in Hulhumale' but have not received housing due to various reasons. In light of the government's efforts to address these issues and find amicable solutions, the Vinares flats will not be made available for purchase in the future, HDC said. Instead, the government aims to accommodate most of these individuals through the Vinares program.
HDC said the company is actively working to provide additional housing opportunities in line with the government's goal, and alleviate the housing crisis faced in Male' City.
The HDC also advised the public to be vigilant against fraudulent activities in the name of selling Vinares apartments.
