Maldives rescues six from adrift Sri Lanka fishing boat

Maldives coastguard on Saturday located the adrift Sri Lanka fishing vessel and rescued the six member crew.

Coastguard spokesperson Captain Ibrahim Azim said the vessel was found around 9.45am on Saturday near Noonu Atoll Manadhoo island. All crew members were found in good health, he added.

According to the coastguard, the Colombo Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) had reported that the fishing vessel was adrift in Maldivian waters due to engine failure around 5.30pm on Friday.
