Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is assisting a foreign boat in distress.
MNDF said a Coast Guard launch is assisting a Sri Lankan fishing boat drifting off Dhiffushi island after its engine failed. The people aboard the vessel are in good health, said MNDF.
MNDF further revealed that they received reports of the drifting boat on January 23, and that the boat was being monitored by the authority since then.
The coast guard launch is expected to have reached the drifting vessel by 9.30 pm Sunday.
