Authorities are searching for a missing cargo vessel, "AAA-37" with three people on board.
The vessel departed from K. Thilafushi around 6.30 am on Friday to travel to M. Medhufushi Island Resort.
According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre received reports of the missing vessel at 5:20 pm the same day. MNDF Coast Guard ship Shaheed Ali is currently engaged in searching for the boat. The MNDF urges anyone with information about the boat to come forward.
The MAldives is currently experiencing challenging weather conditions due to the Western Monsoon. The Meteorology office has issued a yellow alert for the area between Baa Atoll and southernmost Seenu Atoll from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm today, with winds expected to range between 25 and 30 mph, and gusts up to 50 mph during rainstorms.
