Dinghy carrying 10 flips amid trip

A dinghy carrying 10 passengers traveling from Laamu atoll Baresdhoo flipped upside down amid trip.

However, there were no serious injuries in the accident.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirmed they received a distress call regarding a dinghy flipping upside down around 08:52hrs on Monday morning. The authority shortly had dispatched its Coastguard unit to aid the passengers onboard the vessel.

According to a recent development, all ten passengers have been transferred to a nearby uninhabited island named Mahakanfushi. They were transported by Coastguard and other civilian dinghies.

Maldives is currently experiencing rough seas across the country due to strong gusts and stormy weather. Meanwhile the country's meteorological center has advised everyone to take caution while engaging in sea transport.
