Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's daughter Yumna Maumoon claims the state has conspired to once again arrest her lawmaker brother Ahmed Faris Maumoon - in a yet undisclosed offense.
Yumna Maumoon confirmed that she had received information of an arrest warrant released under her brother Faris Maumoon's name, which she described as a direct act of injustice.
Although the activist Gayoom sibling, had claimed her brother's arrest warrant has been issued it has not been validated by any of the government entities. Both Gayoom and son Faris Maumoon attended the 69th Indian Republic Day celebrations on Friday night.
Maumoon got bailed on Thursday after a six month arbitrary detention. He was released by Criminal Court judge Ali Adam, who ruled that Faris Maumoon's case had stalled without any appropriate developments while he had been under detention for the duration of the case, which is legally not commonplace.
Criminal Court judge Adam had also highlighted that keeping Maumoon in detention was a direct violation on his civic rights.
Furthermore the Criminal Court judge was confident lawmaker Maumoon would not impede on the case proceedings while he had also requested for the intervention of foreign forensic analysis on the evidence presented by the state at court over the case - which would result days-long probing.
While Criminal Court had cancelled the order of Faris Maumoon's detention order, the defendant's side had filed for appeal on the case at High Court. The hearings at High Court on the appeal case had long since concluded without a probable ruling heard over it.
