Dhiggaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Faris Maumoon's elder sister Yumna Maumoon has met with members of Human Rights Commission of Maldives on Monday over the MP's case.
She met with HRCM members to discuss about the sudden arrest of lawmaker Maumoon two days after his conditioned release on Thursday, following a 15 day remand on him.
The MP's sister, Yumna Maumoon had met with HRCM members to due to the growing family concerns regarding Faris Maumoon and added the family believes his arrest was unlawful and therefore needs to be addressed to relevant authorities.
Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's elder son, Faris Maumoon was kept in arbitrary detention for well over six months during the trial proceedings of state pressed charges on him for bribery.
Criminal Court judge who saw the hearing before his release, found it reasonable to let Faris go until the case resumed since the court had found no practical motive for the lawmaker to make any attempts on impeding the trial proceedings or attempt to contaminate state collected evidences.
MP Maumoon was released on three conditions that had included him responding to court summons without due.
Faris Maumoon was arrested on Saturday, exactly two days after he was granted release from detention through an arrest warrant signed by newly sworn judge Hussain Shaheed.

Meanwhile the MP's lawyers had presented a habeas corpus case on behalf Maumoon at Criminal Court, reflecting seven specific objections. His arrest has already been presented to court for appeal.
