The exotic Baros Maldives has been 'crowned' the Top Luxury Hotel in the World 2018 under Traveler's Choice Awards, conducted by the world's largest travel site; TripAdvisor.
The luxury getaway was also acclaimed to be listed among the Top 25 hotels in the world for service and for romance. Baros Maldives won several regional awards as well, which includes Top for Romance in Maldives and Top Luxury Hotel in Asia.
The winning hotels and resorts were determined based on millions of reviews posted by guests in 2017 on the popular trip site. The winners are selected after examining the reviews and opinions collected about hotels and resorts in a single year from TripAdvisor travelers worldwide.
"With 12 awards this year, Baros Maldives has improved on its impressive tally of nine awards in 2017, when it was rated number 14 in the Top 25 Luxury Hotels," read the resort's press statement.
Ahmed Jihad, the General Manager of the resort commented "we are delighted that Baros Maldives has been recognised in so many different categories by TripAdvisor travellers. We are grateful to our discerning guests for taking time to write appreciative reviews about Baros. I also thank our staff for their dedicated service and teamwork that enhances the luxury of our accommodation.”
TripAdvisor had recognized over 8,095 tourism related properties spanning to 94 countries and eight regions world in the 16th year of the Traveler's Choice Awards.
"This year’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for Hotels recognise thousands of exceptional accommodations that received the highest marks for value, service, amenities and overall experience from travellers. Millions of reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community informed this list of winners," said Brooke Ferencsik, the senior director of communications for TripAdvisor.
Bars was one of the earliest hospitality outlets to open in Maldives, in 1973, and has continued on the path of progress while setting the "benchmark for a romantic, luxury holiday with genuine, heartfelt Maldivian Hospitality."
