Prominent lawmaker graces Maldives after months

South-Galolhu constituency lawmaker Ahmed Mahloof has returned to homeland Maldives after living abroad for months.

The prominent opposition lawmaker has returned home at a time when Maldives parliament is set to commence within a week.

However, his ailing grandmother who is getting her treatment at ADK hospital is reported as the prime reason for the parliamentarians return to home town.

Mahloof who flew to Sri Lanka sometime earlier in 2017 had initiated a strong opposition movement in the country - mainly due to the high number of Maldivian citizens living in the country - while he had also visited a few European states to muster support and backing to remove the parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh from power.

Pro-government members and lawmakers had claimed Mahloof had evaded from the country over fears of another possible incarceration, was adamantly rebutting about his 'promised' return when the time came.

Meanwhile a criminal probe related to the MP is currently carried out by authorities. He is alleged for obstructing officers of law inside parliament premises.
