Former President Mohamed Nasheed has claimed the Attorney General's excuse of checking Supreme Court order for elements in need of evaluation is an act of defiance to implement the top-court rule.
While giving an interview to Raajje TV, Nasheed said AG Mohamed Anil's excuses would pummel him to judicial process.
"His excuses will lead him into a judicial process, and I advice him against it. I advice him to refrain from obstructing Supreme Court orders," Nasheed said.
Furthermore Nasheed noted that Supreme Court's decision tonight confirmed his continued reiteration about the illegitimacy of the court case and verdict on him over the terrorism charges he was charged with.
The former President had also criticized government's move to sack Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef. AG Anil stated the police chief Ahmed Areef has been relieved from his post as president Yameen's repeated attempts to contact the police commissioner had failed. Nasheed said that the President should contact Home Minister and not the Police Chief during such situations.
Nasheed had denied rumors of his immediate return to homeland tonight, and refrained from disclosing the exact date of his possible return.
Hours after the Supreme Court ordered the relevant authorities to immediately release all jailed political leaders, the Attorney General (AG) Mohamed Anil flanked by the home minister, defence minister and army chief in a brief press briefing insisted that the government was now trying to verify the validity of the Supreme Court order.
