Govt employee housing scheme, 2000+ applicants

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that more than 2,000 applicants employed under government offices and institutes have applied for the state initiated housing scheme.

The government initiated social housing scheme opened a total of 1,000 shelters for public sector employees. Minister Muizzu has confirmed on Twitter that a total of 2,161 government or civil servant employees from 16 different offices have applied for the housing scheme before due.

Housing Minister had also taunted opposition in his tweet stating that incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has continued to fulfill his administration's promises to the citizens despite opposition's attempts to create revolts.

State has concluded that from the 7,000 social housing flats developed at satellite town Hulhumale', 1,000 will be awarded to civil servant officers in various government offices. The apartments will be awarded after evaluating the employees ratio in the offices.

Flats will be assigned under three distinct categories from each government office, with 300 flats assigned for technical and managerial staff and another 300 flats assigned for administrative field officers and 400 flats for support staffs employed under government institutes.

Housing Ministry claims the primary importance of winning criterion will include education qualification as well as employment duration.

Employees with a special-needs family members will granted extra points in assigning flats under the scheme.
