A parliament sitting has been scheduled for the Friday next week on March 16.
Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh made the announcement of a Friday parliament sitting for next week moments after the president nominated name of Ahmed Shareef Adam as the new Elections Commission member was passed down to the special committee responsible for personnel assessment for approval.
Maseeh did not disclose the details or any agenda for the parliament sitting on a weekend.
The parliament sitting date 'conveniently' coincides with a planned large-scale assembly organized by the opposition.
