Housing minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Friday denied media reports indicating that the government had paid MVR185 million to a local firm after prematurely terminating a contract, insisting that the ministry does not have a settlement agreement with anyone.
"Housing ministry does not have any settlement agreement with anyone," Muizzu said on Twitter following the media reports.
The minister also expressed disappointment with the media saying "local journalists report without checking what the facts are."
"It is highly irresponsible and unprofessional to do so. Media Council has a role to ensure such unprofessionalism do not keep repeating," he added.
