Two injured after three storey fall

Two people were injured after falling from a three storey building in Thaa Atoll Madifushi island on Sunday.

Police said the two were plastering the outer wall of the building when the plank overturned. Police said both the men were being treated at the island health centre while one remain in critical condition.

A health centre official told AVAS that two men, one local and the other an expatriate were brought in around 9am. The local man had suffered a broken leg and his condition remains serious, the official said.

"The 40 year old local man's condition is serious. He has a broken leg and has both internal and external bleeding," the official added.

The official said the man needs to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the internal injuries but the health centre lacks the facilities, adding that arrangements are now being made to airlift the man to the capital Male.
