Salaries suspended for Chief Justice, top court judge

Maldives Judicial Services Commission (JSC) has suspended the salaries to both Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Supreme Court judge Ali Hameed on Tuesday.

Before discontinuing their monthly salaries, both members were officially suspended from their held designations after authorities had arrested them shortly following the presidential proclamation of state of emergency on February 5.

According to JSC both chief justice and top court judge will not receive their monthly salaries for the duration of their suspension.

Both Saeed and Hameed are tried by the state for attempting to overthrow a constitutionally elected government as well as accepting bribes.
