Maldives Police Service has commenced probe into a case of assaulting a local businessman and looting more than a million in local currency on the victim at the time of incident.
According to police media official the incident was reported to the authority on Monday adding the case is currently being investigated.
Sources claim the victim as a local businessman named Abdulla Jaleel who was almost at the vicinity of his residence when an unknown assailant struck him with a hammer and ran off with the money on him at the time.
