President Yameen congratulates Egypt's leader

Maldives president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has congratulated the Egyptian head of state Abdul-Fatteh Sisi for winning his second presidency term by a landslide.

In president Abdulla Yameen's formal message to his Egyptian counterpart, he had congratulated Sisi for winning a second term in the elections while he extended the felicitations both on behalf of the Maldivian citizens as well as himself.

President Yameen had claimed the win for Sisi is stark evidence the people of Egypt accepts his administration and governance; and stated the leader had won both the love and trust of his people.

The Maldives head of state had focused on the long-lasting friendship between the island nation and Egypt, while valuing the diplomatic ties between the two country president Yameen had hoped under Sisi's new term the two nation would continue growing stronger together.

President Abdulla Yameen had wished for prosperity and success for the people of Egypt as well as for the country's president.

Although president Yameen had extended his well wishes to the Egyptian head of state the international community has been rather displeased with Sisi's autocratic conduct prior to elections. Sisi had successfully driven off all opposing presidential candidates from elections and had forcibly take their names off from candidacy prior to vote day.

In a not so surprising turn the Egyptian head of state had won his second term with a 97% 'contentious' approval from the public.
