The Sunday scheduled hearing of missing Minivan News reporter Ahmed Rilwan Abdullah has been once again cancelled.
The trial of the missing journalist was tabled for 15:00hrs on Sunday afternoon however was cancelled by the Criminal Court due to absence of witnesses expected to be presented by state.
Similarly several hearings of the journalist's case had been cancelled previously over different reasons.
State had charged Ahmed Aalif Rauf, Henveiru Hilton and Mohamed Nooraddeen, Karankaage, Gaaf Dhaal Vaadhoo for the alleged kidnapping of Rilwan; they were prosecuted on August 15, 2017.
However both men had denied the allegations made on them while the Criminal Court judge in-charge of the case had urged for the requirement of a fast pace trial proceeding for the case due to its sensitive nature.
State had presented a total of 29 evidences against the alleged individuals, including the testimonies of eight of the victim's family members and another five witnesses who presented their statement in anonymity. Three other witnesses had presented their testimonies without any discretion.
The case overseeing judge, Adam Arif had strongly recommended government to present their witnesses and evidence without further delay since the plaintiff has been provided adequate time-frame to present evidence.
