One of the government affiliated member of the parliament has commented showing trust for Maldives Democratic Party's parliamentary group leader and Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as the most viable opponent to take president's office should incumbent president Yameen Abdul Gayoom fail a run for a second term.
While speaking in "News Talk" on Channel 13, Bilehdhoo MP Ahmed Mubeen praised the opposing party's lawmaker for his academic background and knowledge of law and legal affairs. Mubeen specified that Solih is the only commendable candidate best suited to lead the country should president Yameen face a loss in the upcoming election; while adding that while many key members of the coalition led opposition harbor strong desires to run for the office.
"Iboo [Solih] is a legal expert and many agree to this, he knows the country's judicial system as well as its Constitution better than many. He is best suited for the position with regards to the top-bench of the party [MDP] or with leadership prowess," Mubeen said.
Mubeen had further praised his parliament colleague stating Solih is a favorable choice for the opposition to consider for the elections and the parliamentary group leader is well-disciplined and professional in his conduct.
"I know if Iboo [Solih] is running for presidency he would generate a smooth manifesto, he would do something beneficial to the public and he is the only one from the opposition's front who the people would not hesitate to entrust the country's presidency," Mubeen added.
Bilehdhoo MP had bemoaned the absence of a 'responsible' and pro-active opposition stating that the ruling party can initiate with creating a manifesto once opposition announces their presidential candidate.
