Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) deputy leader and tourism minister Moosa Zameer has claimed their main focus right now is the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking at a party rally held one of the ruling party's camps - 'Rumaalu-2' - tourism minister had asserted several campaign works currently underway. However noted that the Islamic sacred month of Ramadan is days away and during the said month, political or campaign activities would slow down.
Moosa Zameer had noted that although the ruling party's political movements may slow down a notch during Ramadan, they would still carry out campaign works as much as possible during the month.
In his speech the tourism minister focused on the GDP (gross domestic product) per capita growth as well as the increase in the buying capacity of the Maldivian citizens.
"Under president Yameen's administration the public's medical expenses have been sliced leading to the growth in disposable income. This has in turn led to the increase in peoples' buying capacity," Zameer noted.
He also stressed on the economic growth and the introduction of larger international franchises into Maldives; drawing comparison with the state of country's economy 10 years back.
Tourism Minister had also pointed out the presence of all basic necessities and services in the island nation's inhabited islands.
