National Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised from the Maldives public to acquire influenza vaccination amid the rise of common-cold, viral fever and influenza cases.
Influenza vaccines are designed to counter its H1N1 variation along with two other variations. People showing affinity towards the flue and health-sector workers are normally advised to inject the counter-vaccines during flu outbreaks.
Maldives registers the H3N2 variation of the influenza virus more in common compared to the other variations.
HPA had initiated a special vaccination program, through all major medical outlets including Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), ADK Hospital, Senahiya, Hulhumale' Hospital and Dhamanavehi.
The health protection agency's statistics published on Tuesday indicated visible rise in influenza cases in Maldives. ADK Hospital had lodged a total of 81 influenza cases over the past five years; indicating rise in cases reported per year.
